Don't Try This At Home
An interesting email arrived in our inbox the other day, courtesy of WPPI member Mike Larson.
Mike's latest trick for taking unique wedding photographs includes tossing his camera up in the
air. He writes, "I toss it up, giving it a slight spin, and then having either a two-second
delay (which takes talent to time) or putting my rapid-fire trigger on, I get the shot.
Getting the spin, angle and height is tough, but so is catching it." That's no point-and-shoot
camera either, folks--see for yourself. You can find more on Mike
here,
here and on
his website.

Carol Lundeen on The Learning Channel This Month
|
As mentioned in Member News a few months back, WPPI member Carol Lundeen will appear in a
documentary on TLC. From Carol's
website:
A Los Angeles production company recently filmed a one-hour special documentary for TLC
(The Learning Channel) about the famous "Running of the Brides" sale at Filene's Basement in
Boston. The show will follow three Boston area couples as they do the leg work of preparing
for their weddings. In addition to covering the Filene's sale, each of the three couples was
filmed during their initial consultation with one wedding vendor. Carol was filmed for the show
in February with a Watertown couple in their home, and also at the couple's May 2007 wedding,
which she photographed.
The show will air June 13. Check local listings for show times.

Blog Roundup
Blogs have become an invaluable tool for photographers to share their images and thoughts,
market their services, and build a brand identity. Thanks to their ease of use and low cost
of entry, anyone can start one. You can even integrate a blog into your existing website.
That said, we'll be highlighting some of our favorite blogs from WPPI members in this section.
Our first blog is from Mark Cafiero, who wrote about blogging in the
August
2006 issue of Rangefinder. Mark's blog began as a weekly email to six of his closest
friends and family members. It has since grown into one of our favorite photo blogs. Mark's
website can be found at www.sixpeeps.com.
Another great source of inspiration is Cup of
Joe Photo. Offering "Inspiration served daily," Joe Photo's blog captures both his amazing
photographic talent and his unique perspective.
