Studio 222: The Art of the Detail
The groom had full-sleeve tattoos, down to his wrists, on both arms. Out of respect for his bride’s very conservative family—and despite the oppressive Orlando heat—he kept his shirt and jacket on throughout the day. Yet Becka Robinson noticed something while she and her husband Nate were shooting images of the new couple together.

"In this economy, you'll never get a loan!" All those negative comments from naysayers did not detour Maggie Habieda Nowakowski, proud owner of the brand new Fotografia Boutique studio in Oakville, Ontario, from realizing her dream and building it anyway. Now that the studio is finished, and more spectacular than she even first imagined, all those negative mutterings have melted into positive comments and praise. Member of the Month: Jesh de RoxDon't be too surprised to find yourself surrounded by the presence of true love while witnessing a couple in the brink of tears at a Jesh de Rox photo shoot. "Half of the people I shoot usually cry," says the fine art portrait photographer. "They tell me how I have changed their life and revived their relationship." Member of the Month: Paul ErnestPaul Ernest has always had a love of photography, both as art form and for its ability to forever capture a moment in time. He believes the passion he has is in his blood. “My family played a huge role in my development as an artist. My mother worked in graphic design, my grandfather in painting and woodcarving, and my great-grandmother as a painter and literary artist.” Member of the Month: Garrett NuddGarrett Nudd found his passion for photography long before it became his business. In fact, when he started shooting weddings he was living in two worlds. He was working a full-time job in the corporate world to earn a living, and spending every other moment shooting weddings because it was his passion. In 2006, when he had booked 40 weddings for the year as his ‘spare time’ job, his wife came to him, and with extreme understanding and support, told him that she knew he wanted to make a go of it as a full-time photographer. She had only one condition. “I remember one night, we had put the baby to sleep and I was working on the computer doing images, probably backed up about eight or 10 weddings,” he laughs, and his wife came in to see him. She told him, “I want you to know that I’ve thought about it, I’ve prayed about it, and I’m willing to support you 110% under one condition, and that condition is that we won’t be starving artists.” |
