Donations to Help Disaster Victims in Joplin, MO
We have all seen the shocking pictures of the destruction caused by tornadoes in the Midwest, including the devastation in Joplin, MO. Over 120 people died and 50% of the city was flattened. Springfield, MO is approximately 75 miles from Joplin, and many residents in Springfield have friends and family who were affected by this tragic event. Dawn Shields, owner of Dawn Shields Photography and Metropolitan Bride, immediately organized moving trucks supplied by her husband Sean and put the word out in the Springfield community for donations.
Water, blankets, food, batteries and clothing are some of the supplies being requested by The Ronald McDonald House, which is one of the only structures able to house survivors. Large trucks of supplies went out Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but more help is needed. Even though you may not live in the area, you can make a contribution through Metropolitan Bride by calling (417) 888-2900 or by making a Paypal contribution by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
